Answer questions in terms of business studies:

1. There has been debate over if this movie is genuine or a "mockumentary". What do you think? If it was a mockumentary - why would Bansky do this?

I think this movie is more of a genuine because this isn't like mocking something or someone.

2. What do you think the street artists are trying to get across to the public with their graffiti?
How can you tell they were effective?

Some people would want to spread their words around and some just wanted to draw for fun. But if they're trying to spread the word around, they'd make it attractive and unique so it would catch people
s eye.
3. What do you think that Mr. Brain Wash was trying to get across to the public with his art? Was he effective?

His art is mainly changing up the pictures and he was pretty effective because many people says they want to see more of that artwork.

4. What do you see as the key differences between the street artists work and MBW's work?

Street artists aren't for money and they can actually draw meanwhile MBW's work is pretty much for money and he hired people to draw for him but he comes up with the ideas.

5. At the end of the show lots of people showed up to the art show.  Why the long line? What brought so many people together?

They wanted to see unique artwork and they wanted more people to do that kind of art.

6. Graffiti: Is it art or vandalism? How would you react to someone painting on your wall? What similarities do you see between graffiti and guerilla marketing? Where is the line for Shepard Fairey or Banksy, when they move from making art against the mainstream machines into making money off of their art from the mainstream machines? Did they sell out or did they achieve success?

I think it's vandalism but it's also art because it kind of depends on the graffiti. If someone drew on my wall I'd be upset because I would want to draw on my wall myself and design how I wanted to, unless someone painted on my wall and I liked it. Shepard Fairey and Banksy both achieved success.

If you were a tourist agent what would you be pitching for the upcoming holidays?

For the upcoming holiday dream trip, I'd pick Disneyland because they have prepared the Christmas theme and it would be suitable for families. It doesn't matter what age your kids are because they'd love to have some fun. Even if you're were in your 20s, 30s, you would still want to go to. You can reminisce the times you were watching Disney shows or if you've been there before. There are different themed hotels,  and some even have spas, pool, and water slides. Between November 1st 2011 and February 26th 2012 you can stay at Disneyland for $1,587.00 saving $500. Including $958 to go there and back (Calgary to Anaheim, CA). You can spend some family time together creating loving and sweet memories.

Write a classified advertisement offering to sell something you would gladly give up and get some money for.

The advertisement I would do is for food. Everyone needs food to survive and as long if the poster make the food tempting and attractive it would attract people to buy though they are already buying it. But by showing how to make food, people will buy the ingredients that is needed for that particular food = money making.

Prices are depending on how big the advertisements using up the newspaper.

Imagine you are the manager of a store.

If I was the manager of a store, I would give about 3 warnings to that worker who is constantly late and is unmotivated when working. If the worker continues to be like that and had not change the attitude to a positive one then I would have a group vote if that worker should be fired or not. The leadership style that I think I will use is Democratic Leadership because I leave it up to the group to decide whether or not that worker should be fire and if the majority says yes then the worker would be fired.

Why is customer service important?

It will make the customers upset if there's no customer service because if they have problems or if the product they buy is not the one they want or refund, they can go to the customer service and talk it through. If the seller do not have good customer service the store can lose a customer and maybe more because of the word of the mouth. They are helping customers and do what they can for them, if there's no customer service then the store would have a bad reputation.

Apply to the school's business

If we loved the school and staffs motivate us like the West Jet CEO we tend to work harder and proud to come and work in that place. If the place is fun then we would volunteer to help out the school like I did in the previous school I went to, but it's usually in the last years because they teachers knew you more and let you do what ever you want.

What did you learn from this video? What questions does this bring up?

Physic Marketing

- Newton's Law
  Force = Mass x Acceleration (F=Ma)
- The more massive a brand the more baggage the more force is needed to change its positioning
- Bunch of particles dancing around and you shine a light they hide
- Acts of observing the consumers changes their behaviour
ie. I never let my kids eat junk food (buys it hundreds and thousands a year)
- You can never measure a person on what they say but how they do it
- You cannot prove a hypothesis through observation, you can only disprove it.
- Can invest a long time on a brand but once it's been screwed up people changes their minds
- Entropy is a measure disorder of a system

Answer what are the 4Ps and what is AIDA in your own words.

The 4Ps are place, product, people, price. It is a market strategy for advertising products. The advertisement will tell the people where it is and price of that product.

AIDA stands for attention, interest, desire and action. It grabs the people's attention from the poster by making attractive and showing their products.

Which category do you predict will generate the most profit for the store?

The store category I predict that is going to make the most money out of the rest, would be the food category. Not that many people care about buying papers or the Titans' clothing because they either they already have it or the clothing is not that in the trend. However they would care more for the food. Candies and sweets tend to attract more people than other things because it's mostly everyone's favourites.

- You can wear something ugly and it would be call "cool"

Do you agree or disagree with the following statements?

  • "If goods were sold only for cash, prices would be lower and everyone would be better off."
I agree because some people has a low income and they can't afford things.

  • "If I can't pay for something, it means I can't afford it, so I won't buy it."
I agree because if you don't have the right amount of money for it then you can't be able to buy it.
  • "I buy on credit whenever I can because credit increases sales and is good for businesses."
I disagree because you might keep spending over the limit on credits and ended up paying more.

  • "You should use credit sometimes: it helps you establish a credit rating, which may be useful in case of an emergency."
I agree because you need good credits then when you have to borrow money for housing or something important the bank will lend you in an easier process.

    Engaged 5 primary activities.

    1. Planning - Planning the future course of action and deciding the most appropriate action to achieve the goals. It is planning things in advance.
    2. Organizing - Bringing together physical, financial and human resounds and developing productive relationship for achievement of goals. There are 6 processes.
    3. Staffing - Keeping it manned and organized. It puts the right on man on the right job.
    4. Leading - Deals directly with influencing, guiding supervising, and motivating others to achieve the goals. They have four elements. (Supervision, motivation, leadership, communications)
    5. Controlling - Measurement of accomplishment against the standards and correction of goals. Check whether or not the proper progress has been made towards the objective and goals.

    Then answer
    1. Describe functions 1,2,4 and 5. In two sentences.
    2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of participative planning?

The advantage is knowing what they're going to do ahead, and the disadvantage is trying to think what to do ahead of time.

How did they motivate you to work harder? How can you use this in your work?

They motivate me to work harder is by making the things we're doing fun. Rather than have a boring class in school, its better to have a fun one. Grade 9 is so far my best years because almost all of my teachers there are funny, and they make the class seems so fun. They crack out jokes and it makes me want to stay in that class. When I have classes that has a boring (no offence) strict mean teacher, I feel like I don't really want to be in that class.

Name a product that is in the decline stage of it's life cycle.

The shoe that is called Heelys. I no longer see people wear these shoes in shops or in school. They could change the shoe style and bit and make it attractive or re-adervertise it; using commercials or Guerilla marking technique. Most kids that were in that days would have grown up by now and there's a new set of kids. However, since they were born during that shoe was being promoted, they would have no idea about it, so if they promoted it again, they would buy it. Everything will keep repeating especially in fashion.

    Tuesday, November 15, 2011

What did you like about the product? What did you wish was different? Who would this product appeal to? How could you market to them within the school?

The product was great, it was fun putting stickers and changing the back ground on the page. However, what I wish that was different is that it wouldn't just connect to Facebook or uploading your own pictures from your computer for pictures. What if we have pictures from other social networking and they're not on our current computer? It should have more variety of social networking. Personally I wouldn't spend my money to have my own personalized yearbook page and also pay for the yearbook because it's not really worth it. But if it was a great year for me then I might buy the yearbook but not have my own pages. But maybe when I'm in my last year of the school, such as the grade 12s, I would buy it.

List as many different types of ads as you can.

    - Newspaper ads
    - Website ads
    - Youtube's ads
    - Commercial
    - Mini video appearing when clicking website/apps (iphone/ipod etc)

What is your least favourite ad? What is your favourite ad? Put an example of a good and a bad ad on your blog. Explain why one works for you and one doesn't.

Some of the advertisements that I think that's good is the McDonalds Pole and the WPPED Cream Elevator Award. It looks really unique and attractive, it will catch people eyes' and they won't be forgetting about that advertisement for awhile.

Newspapers advertisement, it looks plain and boring. Not much people will look at the advertisements because they would be focusing on the news (can't find the picture for it).

Which idea did you like the best and why?

Guerilla marketing means a promoting their things with time energy imagination and information. People rather have a try on things on their promotion rather than watch on television or such. My favourite guerilla marketing would be the one with people sliding down. It is fun, and faster than the escalator. In fact, it is rather unique and attracts more people to in, and it's not like they will be forgetting about it within seconds just like a commercial.

    Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Do you think they are right about generation Y? How can you use this "consumer behaviour" analysis to further your company?

I think it's pretty true. My friends hardly pay attention to commercial at all and I do too, and they tend to search things or hear things on the internet. I think it can affect our company positively if we promote our business on social networking, such as Facebook. Friends would support us, and buy it, meanwhile bringing their friends, and if their friends feel like buying it, or think they should give it a try, our product will be sold.

    Monday, November 7, 2011

What does this story teach you about customer service, customer loyalty, customer relations and the customer experience?

The cab driver has a really good customer service. He talked to the customer so there wouldn't be an awkward silence between them while he was driving towards the airport, which requires good socializing skills. The cab driver even made the customer feel comfortable and welcomed though the customer was leaving. However, that made the customer would want to come back again rather than complaining how bad the customer service was. He even gave cards to have a good relationship with the customers and that they would become friends.

Is it possible for a business to be solvent but not profitable? Why or why not?

It could be possible because if you have enough to pay the bills and can keep on running the business. If you are able to pay the bills and such things, it would be an equal sign to both sides (profit and debt). However, sometimes being solvent may be a problem, sometimes there's thing you need to pay a bit more cash than the usual. The cost can go up and you may not have enough money anymore, so it's better to have profit than solvent.

    Describe your favourite advertisement.

I don't have a favourite advertisement nor a favourite store, because most doesn't really interests me. However, I would prefer the advertisements (commercials) to be easy to understand and funny, it is more entertaining to watch rather than something boring. What soft drink do I like best would probably be crush or sprite. To me, it tastes better than coke, pepsi and such but it doesn't mean everyone will have the same opinion as me, they can prefer other soft drinks and not pick the one that I had picked.

What is working well with your group for this project?

By working together and putting effort into it. What would work better is having more time in the morning to be able to see our products, because having 15 minutes isn't enough to set up and sell and put it away. We don't really need to encourage others to work better in our group, because currently, everyone is doing what they can for the assignments, though it may not be the best, but if there's a little more time and some feedback which we just had, it'll be better.

How Can businesses Have a Bad Reputation?

Sometimes people can accuse them for something they didn't do. Otherwise it's usually the businesses' fault. They can end up in a bad reputation in a way of what they did wrong (lie about their products, treat their workers not right etc.) and how they treat the customers. They could try to do explain about the things they did, or prove that the customers are mistaken in order to get a positive reputation. They can also promote their products or come out with new things with a better quality, and get peoples' interests.

Respond: What do you think of this man's ideas?

I think his ideas are that we are heating up the planet while we could use a non-harm, simple, cheap ways to have a light source. There are different ways instead of using electricity and harming the planet. Some of the ways are using a detector, and an imager. It converts to an electron and you stick it on your window creating an image you can see through. If you don't need the light then you can beam it to your neighbour's house or friends'.

What I Think of What Author Isaac Asimov stated

What I think he meant on his statement is that no matter what you hear, been told by or having a sense of something by other people that made you not wanting to do it anymore, you still must do it. As long as you know if it's right, and achieving your goals, it doesn't matter about the people around you. Some would just try to discourage you and so you wouldn't succeed on what you're trying to do. They can be jealous, and selfish therefore, you have to listen to your own thoughts.

    What would you do if...

    - Your friend asks you to add a few extra hours to a work time sheet for him, but you know that he did not put in the time.
As long if he came to work for that hours then yes, but if not then I wouldn't do so, because it's not fair.
    - A salesperson in an electronics store offers to sell you an iPod after hours at a discounted price.
If the store is legit, and doesn't sell stolen things, then I would buy it.
    - You are aware that the teller gave you back too much money when completing a banking transaction.
I would tell the teller and return the money.

What are Some Products that You Think could be Considered Unethical and Morally Wrong?

Some product(s) that could be considered unethical and morally wrong is cigarettes and perhaps alcohol because they will affect your health and the way you act. Cigarettes will make you become addicted and waste your money for no reason. Alcohol can cause a problem, especially most who drink and drive. Those who are drunk wouldn't say they are, would they? So they tend to cause an accident and harm other people.

    Inside Job Slide Assignment

What I Think About this Criticism Article

More than a dozen tents were set out at the Olympic Plaza with their home made signs, and chanting because they were inspired by the New York's demonstration of banking and financing. They want to continue the energy despite how cold it is, and that's the way of life of their target.  However, the professor of the University of Alberta Andrew Leach said he suspected some Canadian protesters might not investigated the Canadian economic situation closely enough.

    Occupy Wallstreet Picture

It shows that there are few millionaires that actually went out there and sleep on the street along with the rest of those who needed jobs or have a really low income. Before this picture was taken, we would think that no millionaire would care for this situation because it does not applies to them in money, they won't lose their high income nor their jobs so it does not matter to them. Now that this picture has been taken, we know there are some that cares.

Richard St John: Secrets of success in 8 words, 3 minutes

    No questions.

    Summarize:
The guy tells and explains the eight things that leads to success because of a high school student who is very poor, had asked him, "What leads to success?" as well did some other people that works at the same thing. The eight words that leads to success are passion, work, good, focus, ideas, push, persist, and serve, follow it or simply just pay money to be successful in TEDs, which is not worth it.

Do you think this Women Has her facts Correct? How do You Think the World Would Change if Women had more Leadership Roles?

The women's fact were pretty true but there is probably more percentage than 15% of the woman who were at the top. More men than women are more successful in their career, and some does it better, but in that case, most women may not have tried their best. If women has more leadership roles, then it would prove that not just men can do things, maybe some women can discover something new. They are in fact more organizer than men and they can keep things clean, tidy and neat.

    Group Contract

How we made the decisions is that we consulted the group, and came to a unify idea. It doesn't really matter if your group will stay alive or not, or how you hear the real answers if you think you will be successful. Whoever is going to be absent the next day must tell the group, and if they don't, they'll receive a strike. That applies for not doing work in the group as well. The meeting will depends on how much that is needed to be discuss, there is no limit in time. The roles are posted below. If there is a disagreement or something that can't be decided, we will give everyone their argument, and it is decided on the majority.

    Describe Competition's Product

Tim Horton's coffee includes a prize in the cup every time you buy one. If you're lucky enough to get the coffee cup that has it, you get a car, or a certain amount of coffees or even have a free cup of coffee and their prices are less than $2 including extra large (based on a website that was published in 2008).  They also includes other kinds of beverages not just coffee. Starbucks doesn't just have coffee, they also have flavours in them and as well, sell it for less than $2.

    Reflect on the Video

    - The guy makes me tired
    - Learned an equation I = P x A x T
    - Learned the equation can be I = (P x A) divided by T
    - Or it can be I = P x a x T, the a becomes a lower case.
    - And there could be a 1 in the equation. I = P x A x T1

How do convincing speakers vary their speech when they speak for different purposes and to different people?

They would say the benefits of what purpose they are speaking for and constantly talk without stopping with a nice understandable pace. They would focus more on the things that applies to the person that they are trying to pursue. Depending on what they are trying to pursue, they will give an example in action. Such as those who's selling make up, as they speak and commenting how pretty the product looks on the customer, they apply the make up on the customer's face. Even though when the customer is upset, they still would not say anything rude to the customer.

What would happen to businesses if everyone had unlimited cash?

Businesses would have a large amount of profit because people would buy what they want, and the price would not matter to them. They would even buy stuff that isn't useful, cause it's just one of their wants. But if everyone had unlimited cash, they wouldn't go to work anymore and just stay home. Those who own the businesses wouldn't have anyone working for them and might not be able to maintain their businesses without a helping hand, especially when it's big.
